Mission

The Governor's Program on Abstinence (GPA) Health Education Program initiative is designed to reduce out-of-wedlock teen pregnancies and to reduce sexually transmitted diseases among teens.  To provide a statewide grass roots program which will influence the behavior of youth, parents, health care providers and educators to help change the culture of our state by promoting the Abstinence-Only Message and the Authentic Abstinence Lifestyle through education, support, and reinforcement. 

The GPA follows strict adherence to the Congressional Guidelines for Abstinence Education Programs. (to obtain a copy of the Congressional Guidelines send requests in writing to the GPA office)
