Governor's Office addresses concerns for Recovery School District
BATON ROUGE-The Governor's Office has assisted the New Orleans Recovery School District (RSD) with the expediting of purchasing and services following a meeting with Department of Education officials today.

BATON ROUGE - Governor Kathleen Babineaux commended action by the U.S. House and U.S. Senate today to repeal legislation prohibiting loan forgiveness for the state.

"Today's signing of this bill gives Louisiana, for the first time in history, the promise of the long term revenue stream we need to restore our fragile coastal environment and to protect our vulnerable communities, as well as the nation's energy infrastructure. We have a plan and we will start work on it in 2007. "Our state has lost more than 1,900 square miles of land in the last 80 years and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita converted more than 200 additional square miles of wetlands into open water.
Gov. Blanco praises Congressional delegation on passage of OCS
"This is an historic day for Louisiana For the first time, the Federal government will share a portion of the royalties from Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas production with our state, its number one partner. I congratulate our Congressional delegation for their tireless work and commend Senator Landrieu, the bill's author, for keeping the pressure on Congress since she began leading this issue in Washington years ago. Our House and Senate Members each played key roles in getting this measure passed and, on behalf of the citizens of Louisiana, I thank you."
